Appraisal letter aaya: "Meets Expectations", 4% hike aur saath mein ek motivational quote

Toh bhai appraisal ka result aa gaya. Pura saal ka hisaab dekho:

  • Teen bade prod incidents, teeno mein raat ko 2 baje main call pe tha
  • Payment service ka Java 8 se 17 migration, lead maine kiya
  • 3 freshers onboard kiye, ek toh ab khud PR review karta hai

Rating: "Meets Expectations". Hike: 4%. Aur letter ke end mein ek quote: "Excellence is not an act, but a habit." 😂

Manager se baat ki. Unka jawab: "Rohit tumhe toh pata hai bell curve ka. Team mein sirf ek Exceeds mil sakta tha." Woh Exceeds us bande ko mila jo har Friday leadership ke saath lunch pe jaata hai. Main kuch nahi bolunga 🙏

Ab inflation 5-6% hai aur hike 4%, matlab asal mein salary kam hui. Gussa aaya, jhooth nahi bolunga. Par 9 saal mein ek cheez seekhi hai: gusse mein resign mat karo, gusse mein mail mat bhejo. Toh maine ye kiya:

  1. Likhit mein feedback maanga: "Exceeds ke liye next cycle mein mujhe specifically kya karna hoga?" Agar jawab vague aaya, samajh lo game pehle se fixed hai
  2. Brag doc update kiya. Har hafte 2 line: kya ship kiya, kya bachaya, kiski help ki. Appraisal ke time manager ko bhi yaad nahi rehta tumne March mein kya kiya tha
  3. Resume update kiya. Resign nahi kiya. Bas ready rakha

Juniors ke liye sach: internal hike 5-10% hota hai, switch pe 30-40% tak. Ye system ka design hai, tumhari galti nahi. Loyalty achhi cheez hai, par company ki loyalty ek spreadsheet hai.

Brag doc is underrated. I keep a google doc with every incident and every PR that saved money. Last appraisal I just pasted it, manager had no counter. Still got 8% only 😂 but at least the rating changed

Actually same thing in Dhaka, brother. The thing is when inflation is near 10% a 5% hike is a pay cut, but you cannot say that in the meeting.
