tier 3 clg, 3rd yr, koi company nahi aati. is it over for me?? 😭
Harshit Gangwar@harshit_2005
bhai log pls help 🙏
btech cse 3rd yr, private clg in bareilly. last year only 2 companies came for placement, both service, package 3.2 lpa. i know c++ basics, 140 leetcode done (mostly easy), 1 project (todo app in react).
my seniors are saying "off campus is impossible from our clg". one youtuber is selling a 6000 rs course which "guarantees" internship. should i buy it?? also should i do dsa in c++ or switch to java??
i am very confused and kind of scared. sir log pls guide 🙏😭

Harshit, it is not over. Let me be very practical.
1. C++ or Java: whichever you already know. You know C++ basics, so C++. Do not switch now.
2. The 6000 rupee course: no course can "guarantee" an internship. If someone says guarantee, that is marketing. Everything you need is free. Save the money.
3. 140 mostly easy is a good start. Now stop counting. Go pattern by pattern: arrays and hashing, two pointers, sliding window, binary search, stack, then trees and graphs. 5 to 8 medium questions per pattern, revise each one after 3 days and after 7 days. 150 done like this beat 500 done once.
4. Project: the todo app is fine for learning. Now build one thing that someone else uses. An attendance tracker for your class, a notes site for your college. Real users, real questions in interviews.
5. Off campus is not impossible. It is harder. Apply on company career pages, not only job portals. Message engineers on LinkedIn with a short note and your GitHub link, not just "pls refer". Try hackathons and open source.
6. Placement season is a year away. One year of consistent work changes everything.
My college's best package was a service company too. Ghabrao mat. Post your weekly progress here if you want, many of us will check.

140 mostly easy + todo app in 3rd year. honestly yes its rough. tier 3 + no skills = service company. thats just math

Adding to Nikhil's point 3: make a simple sheet with question, pattern, date solved, and revisit dates. Share it with me and I'll check it every Sunday. Same offer I give everyone I mentor.

when you reach graphs ping me vai, BFS/DFS is way easier than people make it look. and skip the course 100%, codeforces + leetcode free is enough

Same situation here in Islamabad, only a few companies come to our university. Reading these answers gave me hope also. All the best Harshit!
