3 rules for t/desi_devs

  1. Kisi bhi language mein likho

Hindi, Hinglish, English, Tamil, Telugu, sab chalega. Bas doosre ko samajh aana chahiye.

  2. No salary shaming

Share CTC numbers if you want, but do not mock someone for theirs.

  3. Argue with the post, not the person

Disagree as hard as you like. Insults, slurs and dogpiling get removed, and repeat offenders get removed too.

  • Very useful, Rohit. Sharing with my students. Ghabrao mat, numbers are just maths. Do the dry run of your own offer letter exactly like this.
  • Thank you Rohit. Coming back after a break, I was confused why my offer's CTC was so different from the monthly amount. The employer PF and gratuity lines explain it. Kindly also tell freshers to keep the CTC breakup sheet safely, I needed my old one for a home loan.

Harshit, it is not over. Let me be very practical. 1. C++ or Java: whichever you already know. You know C++ basics, so C++. Do not switch now. 2. The 6000 rupee course: no course can "guarantee" an internship. If someone says guarantee, that is marketing. Everything you need is free. Save the money. 3. 140 mostly easy is a good start. Now stop counting. Go pattern by pattern: arrays and hashing, two pointers, sliding window, binary search, stack, then trees and graphs. 5 to 8 medium questions per pattern, revise each one after 3 days and after 7 days. 150 done like this beat 500 done once. 4. Project: the todo app is fine for learning. Now build one thing that someone else uses. An attendance tracker for your class, a notes site for your college. Real users, real questions in interviews. 5. Off campus is not impossible. It is harder. Apply on company career pages, not only job portals. Message engineers on LinkedIn with a short note and your GitHub link, not just "pls refer". Try hackathons and open source. 6. Placement season is a year away. One year of consistent work changes everything. My college's best package was a service company too. Ghabrao mat. Post your weekly progress here if you want, many of us will check.

  • Adding to Nikhil's point 3: make a simple sheet with question, pattern, date solved, and revisit dates. Share it with me and I'll check it every Sunday. Same offer I give everyone I mentor.

  • जय हिंद 😄 सही बात है भाई। Army school mein English compulsory thi but ghar pe sab Haryanvi. Code ki koi bhasha nahi hoti, logic ki hoti hai.
  • google translate says this post is about 'pointers explained by a brother' and honestly thats how i learned too. random guy on youtube. no degree. respect

  • I was in a service company for 3 years. Bench was real, yes. But I also learned to handle clients, requirements that change daily, and code from 2009 nobody understood. Product companies hired me BECAUSE of that. Your 'sir we use the framework' guy exists in product companies too, I have interviewed him there also.
