Advertise on Dynamo Geeks

Put your developer tool or product in front of people who build software, with a placement that is always clearly labelled and never pretends to be organic content.

What is a Showcase placement

Showcase is Dynamo Geeks' one advertising product: a sponsored card that appears in the home and topic feeds, labelled “Sponsored” with every link marked rel="sponsored", plus your name in a “Sponsored by” slot beside the leaderboard.

  • It is a card, never a post: it cannot be voted on, commented on as if it were a member's content, or saved to a reading list the way a real post can.
  • It never appears inside an answer, a comment thread, or any ranking or “top” list.
  • It is capped to a fixed share of feed positions, so it never dominates a feed or occupies the first few slots someone sees.
  • It never changes anyone's reputation, badges or rank, including your own if you are also a member.

There is no other ad format on Dynamo Geeks. We do not run third-party programmatic display ads (AdSense-style banners); they slow pages down and do not fit a site built for developers.

Who you would reach

Dynamo Geeks' members are working developers: people who write about what they ship, ask and answer technical questions, and chat in real time about their stack. That is a more qualified audience for a developer tool, a SaaS product, or a hiring campaign than a general ad network, because everyone who sees it chose to be here for the same reason you are advertising to them.

Campaigns can run site-wide or be targeted to specific topics, so a database tool can show up specifically where people are talking about databases.

Formats and pricing

Showcase is sold as a fixed-length pass, not a subscription. It does not auto-renew.

  • Showcase, 1 week: Your product or service as a labelled sponsored card in the feeds, and your name on the leaderboard, for 7 days.
  • Showcase, 1 month: Your product or service as a labelled sponsored card in the feeds, and your name on the leaderboard, for 30 days.
  • Showcase, 3 months: Your product or service as a labelled sponsored card in the feeds, and your name on the leaderboard, for 90 days.

Full, current prices are always on our pricing page; this page describes the product, that one quotes the number, so the two cannot disagree. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments as merchant of record; see our terms of service for billing and refunds. If payments are not yet switched on, buying shows “Coming soon” with a link to email us instead of charging anyone.

How approval works

  1. Sign in and start a campaign at /ads: pick dates, optional topic targeting, and your creative (an image, a short description and a link).
  2. Pay for the period you want; your campaign moves to review.
  3. A person on our side reviews it against the ad policy below, usually within one to two business days.
  4. Once approved, it goes live for the exact window you paid for and is shown in the slots described above.
  5. If we reject a campaign, we tell you why and refund it in full; nothing runs without a human approving it first.

Our ad policy

We approve campaigns for genuine developer tools, products and services. We do not accept:

  • Anything illegal, or that promotes illegal activity.
  • Malware, cracked software, or tools built to attack systems without authorisation.
  • Deceptive claims, fake urgency (“only 2 left”), or creative designed to look like a real post, a system message, or site navigation.
  • Financial scams, unregistered investment schemes, or get-rich-quick products.
  • Adult content, gambling aimed at a general audience, or weapons.
  • Anything that would put your campaign inside an answer, a comment, a ranking or the leaderboard itself; a Showcase placement is always beside the content, never inside it, and we will not sell a format that changes that.
  • Political and election advertising.

A rejected campaign can usually be fixed and resubmitted; we will tell you what needs to change.

Frequently asked questions

Does paying for Showcase affect reputation or ranking?
No, never. A Showcase card is its own labelled unit, shown alongside posts, never inside an answer, a comment thread, or any ranking or leaderboard. It cannot earn reputation and cannot change anyone else’s.
How much does Showcase cost?
A placement is priced per period: one week, one month, or three months, with a lower rate per day the longer you book. Current prices are on our pricing page, which is the one place we keep them up to date.
Who approves my campaign?
A person on our side reviews every Showcase campaign, the creative, the landing page and the targeting, before it goes live. We can reject or ask you to change a campaign that does not meet our ad policy below.
Can I target a specific developer topic?
Yes. A Showcase campaign can run site-wide or be targeted to specific topics (for example, only in the Rust or DevOps topics), so you reach the audience most relevant to what you are selling.
