Since 3 years I ask my team to not deploy on friday. Today is friday, 17h. Guess what we deploy ? A "small migration" on the users table. Putain. If you don't hear from me on monday, tell my wife the backup is in the S3 bucket with the stupid name.

Tu râles encore ? 😄 Courage. Et vérifie que le backup se restaure vraiment, hein, pas juste qu'il existe.

Je râle parce que j'ai raison. Et non, je n'ai jamais testé la restauration. Merci pour l'angoisse.

"The S3 bucket with the stupid name" is also exactly what an attacker finds first. Is it public ? Tell me it is not public.

Bon. I will check. Now I am more afraid of you than of the migration.

For next time, on a big Postgres table: add the column as nullable first, backfill in batches, then add the CHECK constraint as NOT VALID and run VALIDATE CONSTRAINT separately so you don't hold a heavy lock during the scan. Never one big ALTER at 17h on a Friday.

Update for the people who asked: migration took 4 minutes, nothing broke, and I am angry anyway, because now they will say "you see, friday is fine".
